My Services

01.

Individual therapy provides an opportunity to talk one-on-one with a therapist who is there to listen without judgment in a safe and supportive environment.  Your therapist will validate your feelings and work with you to problem-solve and improve yourself and your life in the ways that are important to you.

02.

Group therapy and group workshops provide an opportunity to meet with a therapist in the company of a group of peers facing similar issues and concerns.  The benefit of group therapy is that while it is led by a trained therapist, individuals can offer and receive feedback from others who may be experiencing something similar and have valuable insight, as well.

03.

Parent guidance sessions provide parents with a safe place to discuss their concerns about their children and teens.  My job is to provide you with a realistic assessment of your child's issues, and to offer you guidance in addressing your concerns.  Parent guidance sessions can be used once or twice by parents trying to ascertain whether their child has any significant issues; they are also a regular part of your child or teen's individual therapy.  If your child or teen is in therapy with me, we will meet every six to eight weeks to discuss your concerns as well as the issues your child permits me to bring up and address with you.

04.

School Consultations

I have the ability to consult with your child or teen's school any time it is indicated or necessary.  This will only take place upon your request and with your legal consent.  School consultations can beneficial if your child is having learning issues or behavioral issues in school.   In addition, if your child is struggling with learning or emotional issues that are impacting performance or behavior in school, I can help the school to understand your child's issues and also provide suggestions about how they can better support or accommodate your child.

Student Observations

Student observations are available upon your request as well.  Such observations may be helpful if your child is having problems in a particular classroom, with a specific subject or a particular teacher.  By attending his or her school for a day and observing the classroom in action, I am better able to assess what is causing any issues so we can strategize on how they can best be addressed.

Many people who struggle with their weight are taking advantage of the weight loss surgery options that are currently available.  One of the most important requirements to be met before getting insurance authorization for weight loss surgery is a psychological evaluation.  The purpose of this evaluation is to assess your readiness for surgery as well as your understanding of the lifestyle changes you will need to make after surgery.  I have over 15 years of experience conducting these evaluations.

I am familiar with the format of the report as well as the process of submitting reports to the surgeon's office for approval.  All you need to do is show up for your interview with me!

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a psychotherapy technique originally designed to treat the distress associated with traumatic life experiences.  EMDR enables people to heal from symptoms and emotional distress caused by disturbing  life experiences, both big and small.  EMDR enables a person's mind to heal just like the body can heal from a physical injury.

I have over 15 years of experience using EMDR with children, teens and adults to process traumatic events and to address issues such as anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, self injury and ADHD.  EMDR can be utilized as the sole treatment of these issues, or as an adjunct to your therapy.
